The symptoms are the same: alt-printscreen works like a champ, but the whole-desktop printscreen seems like it doesn't even capture a picture. I was able to slove this problem by rebooting my pc but it is annoying and didn't work sometimes - I also have two monitors - One CRT and one LCD. I can try to clear the pagefile next time I reboot; I never get out of memory error message, so unless the clipboard is in the desktop heap, that article shouldn't If so, a *workaround* would be to paste the screenshots into MS Paint, then open the image in PSP.
